Maize Price Expected To Move Up On Supply Constrains

Maize price is expected to move higher due to the low production and supply constraints. Maize price has already touched a record high of Rs 1,850 a quintal.
The crop for the current season in India is 17 million tonnes, against the domestic demand of 20 mt. Less production due to scanty rain and lower sowing have adversely affected the industry.

Starch manufacturers are also affected due to the low supply of maize which is the primary raw product for making starch. Meanwhile government has released a million bags of maize to large millers in an effort of taming the rising cost of maize flour.
