Cardamom On MCX Settled Down By -1.08% At 1343

Cardamom on MCX settled down by -1.08% at 1343 on profit booking after prices gained due to tight stocks, falling supplies and lower output. Cardamom output was hit by weak rains and dry weather during Dec 2015-May 2016 and as a result arrivals shrunk even during peak supply season. Apart from weak output cash crunch too hit the supplies in the auction centres. Exporters continued to be active in the auction centres. During the week under review in spot market prices of cardamom (Robin) rose to Rs 1,100-1,125 from Rs 1,080-1,100 per kg. Deficient rains have hit the cardamom crop badly in Kerala-the largest producing states. Even now plantations are facing moisture stress which may impact pickings.
