Sugar Futures Closed Higher On Friday

Sugar Futures closed higher on Friday as output for the next season is expected to be lower than the consumption demand but on weekly basis the prices closed flat as prices have recovered in last 2 sessions. The most-active March sugar contract closed 0.58% higher to settle at 3,629 per quintal. The country is likely to produce 23.4 mt sugar in 2016/17, down about 7% from a year earlier as back-to-back droughts ravaged cane crops in the top producing western state of Maharashtra and Karnataka.
